Rituals and ceremonies

In Xhosa culture certain rituals and ceremonies are still widely practiced by the local people. For example the ritual of ‘Boys becoming a man’ or rituals to remember the ancestors, where a cow or another animal is slaughtered and traditional beer is made. If you are in Coffeebay and there is a ceremony going on you can join them! It is a very special way to get to know the Xhosa culture and gives you first hand insight in our rituals and ceremonies. The local people are very welcoming and will make sure you get to experience true culture.

Note: there are no fixed dates for ceremonies, they happen on random dates and times. If you are interested in joining a ceremony, make sure you ask Silas on your arrival so he can check if there is anything going on!
